Biography

A former Marine infantry officer and Harris County prosecutor, Knox has adapted his unique background to aggressively pursue defendants and fight for his clients’ rights.

He holds a wide range of litigation/arbitration experience in matters involving personal injury, oil and gas matters, commercial litigation, and employment disputes. He has obtained multi-million-dollar victories for plaintiffs and defendants while working at some of the best law firms in the country and as lead attorney, has tried over 25 jury trials to a verdict. He relishes any opportunity to advocate in the courtroom and takes great pride in his dual background of civil and criminal law experience. He has represented clients in both state and federal courts and has argued appellate matters before both state and federal appellate courts.

As a veteran of the First Marine Division during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and later occupation, Knox believes strongly in applying that unit’s old motto of “No Better Friend” “No Worse Enemy” to every client he represents and every defendant he pursues.

In personal injury matters, Knox gained his original experience defending corporations, business owners, and insurance carriers against injured plaintiffs. Through this experience he became familiar with the typical tactics used by Defendants and the proper way to gauge how Defendants valued their risk on claims. Today he uses that experience to his advantage in representing his clients in standing up to big companies. Whether small matters or complex, Knox treats every personal injury case the same and presses his attacks to the fullest.

In oil and gas matters, Knox has represented landowners, investors, midstream companies, service companies, and operators in contract and property disputes, intellectual property disputes, eminent domain disputes, force majeure disputes, royalty disputes, lease termination/perpetuation disputes, and an array of other issues related to the upstream and midstream oil and gas sector. He further has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating oil and gas leases, SUAs, pipeline easements/ROW agreements, and solar leases.

In executive-employment contract disputes Knox has experience in representing both employers and executive level employees in contract negotiations, severance agreement negotiations, non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreement disputes, and wrongful termination fights.

Additionally, Knox regularly advises directors, boards, and senior executives on the full range of corporate governance matters that confront companies and their leadership.

Prior to commencing his legal career, Knox served as an infantry officer and light armored reconnaissance officer in the Marine Corps for five years before his honorable discharge as a captain. He completed three combat deployments to Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V, a Purple Heart, and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals with Combat Vs.

On November 10, 2022, Knox formed his own firm with his friend and fellow Marine combat veteran Matt Allen to help people who have been injured and companies that have been treated unfairly. Matt and Knox feel privileged to represent their clients and encourage you to contact them if you believe you have a case.

Outside of work, Knox enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his two favorite hobbies of cattle ranching and bird hunting.
